Townsend Justice Center

The Townsend Justice Center was a $26 million build that included remodeling and repurposing an historic hotel in Downtown Casper as a highly secure, multi-story courthouse.

The 5-story building was an occupied site that needed to tie to the existing historical structure and incorporate offices, four district courts, three circuit courts as well as large public spaces, offices and high security.

A tight budget, tight job site in a downtown location, complex security electronics and AV systems all posed a unique challenge.

Pope Construction handled all of the pre-construction services, including estimating, value engineering, constructibility analysis and buyouts. The resulting building encompasses a soaring lobby, which gives visitors the opportunity to prepare for the outside screening area, as well as increased security and capacity for more traffic to the seven courtrooms.

The 18-month project was completed on time and within budget.
